Dental Anesthesia in Albuquerque, NM
Dr. Gary and Dr. Greg Sanchez of Sanchez Dental are certified by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) and are proud to provide safe, effective sedation dentistry treatments to our Albuquerque patients. We can also handle procedures under general anesthesia if necessary.
We are Albuquerque’s sedation experts. Whether you need a sedative to help relax during a procedure or need general anesthesia for oral surgery, we can help!
Types of Anesthesia and Sedation
At Sanchez Dental, we offer several options for minimizing anxiety and discomfort during dental procedures:
- Local anesthesia is a numbing agent applied or injected directly in the area where dental work will be done. It temporarily numbs the nerves in the area, allowing us to work on your teeth without you feeling it.
- Sedation is offered in an oral format. You will take a medication that relaxes you, eliminating the stress and anxiety that some people feel when visiting the dentist. Under sedation you will be awake, although you might be sleepy.
- General anesthesia puts you into a deep sleep or state of unconsciousness. You will be totally unaware of your surroundings and unable to feel anything while under anesthesia. General anesthesia is not used frequently in our office, but it is necessary for certain surgical procedures and is something that we are experienced with and equipped to handle safely.
Before undergoing any procedure, we’ll be sure to understand what you can expect and your options for pain management and sedation.
Choosing the Right Treatment for Your Needs
After your dental exam, our dentists will let you know what your options are for treatments and procedures, whether that means local anesthesia for a tooth restoration, sedation to alleviate your anxiety, or jaw surgery under general anesthesia to correct an underbite.
When you contact Sanchez Dental, we’ll set up a consultation to discuss your needs and goals so that we can develop the personalized treatment plan that’s right for you.
